Newtown shooting leaves one hospitalised

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – UNCONFIRMED reports suggest that a young Newtown man was the victim of a shooting incident which took place earlier this evening.

Information surrounding the incident is yet sketchy. However, this publication understands that the shooting occurred at Carty Alley, Newtown at about 9:45 p.m. and that the victim – who reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to one of his hands - was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment.

Other unconfirmed reports suggest that the victim is 25-year-old Omari Tota.

This publication understands that one male has been taken into police custody and is assisting with investigations into the incident.

Attempts were made to contact Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for CRIME (ACP Crime) Ian Queeley and the police force’s Press and Public Relations Officer, SGT Stephen Hector, concerning the matter, but they proved futile.

More information would be provided via a subsequent publication as information becomes available.
