Junior Police Officer remanded for Armed Robbery

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A junior member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, who allegedly ran afoul of the law, was charged and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.
Constable Germin Gaskin of Upper Shaw Avenue, who bears the allotted Force’s number 664, and Anthony Francis of River Park, Nevis were yesterday charged with armed robbery.
SKNVibes understands that the duo, just after midnight on May 29, 2008 at Belle Vue, Nevis, robbed a businessman at gun point of a sum of money and his personal belongings including an iPod, cellular phones and a wristwatch. The man is reported to have been just outside his home when the incident occurred.
The alleged perpetrators reportedly fled the scene after committing the crime.
After making investigations, the Police arrested their colleague and his accomplice and charged them with the above-stated offence.
Both accused appeared before the District “C” Magistrate’s Court yesterday, were remanded and are expected make a further appearance before the said court in a matter of days. ~~Adz:Right~~
A police press release issued late yesterday afternoon informs that “Const. Gaskin has been suspended from active duty pending the determination of the charge”.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s High Command has guaranteed that “it will do all within its power” to uphold the integrity “and will use all legal means available to rid itself of those who do not live up to the high standards of professionalism which the public has come to expect”.
