Rawlins Villager jailed for three years

~~Adz:Right~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JAIL TIME was one of the punishments handed down at the Federation’s Magistrate Courts to persons convicted of offences brought against them.
As a guest at her Majesty’s Prison, Dwayne Freeman of Rawlins Village will spend the next three years. He was convicted of larceny, an offence he is guilty of committing on November 23, 2007.
For the cultivation of cannabis and possession of cannabis, Kemone Powell of Bath Village was convicted and fined $10,000; $5,000 for each count. Should he fail to pay the fines, he would be incarcerated for one year - six months for each count. May 2, 2008 was the date of the commission of the offences.
A $700 fine was handed down to Herbert Bailey of Newton Ground, who was convicted of careless driving. The sum is to be paid within three months or he will have to serve three months in prison.
For driving without due care and attention, leaving the scene of an accident, and failing to report an accident, Collin Williams of Newton Ground Village was convicted and on the first count ordered to pay $850 in three months or three months imprisonment. He was cautioned on the other counts. According to the Police, the offence was committed on October 18, 2007.
Sandy Point Villager Akeem Hick was convicted and ordered to pay $800 in three months or serve a three-month prison term for possession of cannabis.
“The offence was committed on 24th May 2008 when police on Nevis conducted stop and search operations at the Charlestown Pier and Hick was found with the drugs” a Police press release informs.
