BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A 14-year-old individual and a female of Sandy Point are among six individuals charged with various criminal offences in St. Kitts and Nevis over a two-week period.

A release from the Police Press and Public Relations Office states that on Thursday (Feb. 23), the juvenile was formally arrested and charged on a warrant in the first instance for the offence of building breaking and larceny allegedly committed on Thursday (Feb. 16).

The Sandy Point woman, Melisa Lewis, was arrested and charged on a warrant in the first instance for larceny by servant which was allegedly committed between October 13, 2010 and sometime in October 2011 at Horsford Building Centre on Wellington Road.

Drug-related charges were preferred against three persons – two on Nevis and one on St. Kitts.

According to the release, the two individuals on Nevis are Kevin Merchant and Dean Daniel of Butlers.

Officers of the Gingerland Police Station on Tuesday (Feb. 21) charged Merchant with larceny; an offence he allegedly committed on Friday (Feb. 3) at Clay Ghaut. He was also charged with possession of controlled drugs (cannabis) as a result of him being searched in the Old Manor area.

Daniel was arrested on the same day as Merchant and also in the same area during a police stop and search operation. He was found with a quantity of controlled drugs (cannabis) in his possession for which he was charged.

On St. Kitts, officers of the Drug Unit executed a search warrant on the Newton Ground premises of Nakisha Francis and Eugene ‘Killer Cat’ Davis for controlled drugs, arms and ammunition.

The search revealed 972 grams of cannabis wrapped in a shower curtain and some on a barrel in the kitchen. Both Davis and the controlled drugs were taken into custody and he was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply another.

Also on Nevis, police reported that yesterday morning (Feb. 24) at about 4:30, some person(s) smashed the windscreen of Customs Officer Lanval Williams and threw a firebomb in the vehicle.

Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Fire and Rescue Services were alerted and responded to the incident. Investigations into this matter are ongoing.

Meanwhile, police are investigating an armed robbery that took place on Wednesday (Feb. 22) in Sandy Point.
