Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 02nd, 2012 (SKNIS): Officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force have been commended by Prime Minister the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, for increased efficiency in solving crimes.
 
At his monthly press conference on Wednesday, Prime Minister Douglas noted that recent initiatives by the police have improved crime fighting and fostered a closer working relationship with the public.
 
“As a result of a returning confidence, they (the people) are now providing more information to the police,” he stressed. “… There is now a reliance on information from the eyewitness, and also forensic evidence coupled with that. That’s what I believe has been responsible for the heightened improvement in the crime solution rate.”
 
“I want to commend the police at all levels. Not just the leadership, but middle management and those (officers) doing foot and mobile patrols.”
 
The Prime Minister also singled out important partners in the process of successful law enforcement in the twin-island Federation.
 
“Also don’t forget the Defence Force for providing support for the police - and the people, the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis, who I believe are part and parcel of this improvement,” he concluded, while urging continued cooperation with the security forces.
 
The Prime Minister’s comments were made against the backdrop of a number of arrests which followed a string of incidents committed recently in St. Kitts and Nevis.
