BASSETERRE St. Kitts, March 5th, 2012 -- The Department of Gender Affairs is calling on all men and women to join us in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 08th 2012.
International Women’s Day is a time for persons to reflect on how far we have come in our struggle for equality, peace and development and provides an opportunity for persons to unite, network and mobilize for meaningful change.
Under the theme, “Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures” The Department of Gender Affairs will host a series of activities including the 9th Annual Women’s Day Awards Ceremony which seeks to award women who have demonstrated exemplary achievements, discipline, vision and excellence.
This year, a number of students who have excelled and shown great promise in various areas will also be awarded Certificates of Recognition.
Other activities include:
March 4th – Worship at St. George Anglican Church
March 06th - March 8th – Presentation at Secondary Schools, Avec, CFBC and in the Manufacturing Sector and presentations on local radio and television stations
March 08th – Message by the Hon. Marcella Liburd, Minister with responsibility for Gender Affairs
March 10th – Health Walk from the round a bout at Best Buy to second round a bout in Frigate Bay
