ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, March 6th, 2012   – Road Town sewerage problems will soon be a concern of the past as works are underway to install approximately 1400 feet of pipeline as part of the Road Town component of the National Sewerage Project.

Work began over the weekend in the vicinity of Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park and First Caribbean Bank. The Road Town Phase of the National Sewerage Project is a component of the National Sewerage Project that was signed between Government CBE Engineering Associates Limited for management, engineering and construction supervision services for the National Sewerage Project.

The pipeline is being replaced due to collapses along the lines, debris blockage and to facilitate future development in the Road Town area. The new pipes will allow better flow and increased sewerage capacity.

For the duration of the project which is scheduled for about three months, Mr. McIntosh has appealed to the public for their patience. “We are talking about utility construction. A lot of times we don’t know what we will encounter until we start digging. There are a lot of cables underground, some of which are not marked so there might be some disruptions.”

The Project Manager confirmed that there are plans in place to manage any unforeseen disruptions, however he reiterated the importance that patience be exhibited with the project as they strive to put corrective measures in place to manage the Road Town Sewerage Project.

The Ministry of Communications and Works is committed to the continued development and maintenance of the Territory’s public infrastructure.
