Happy Birthday SKNVibes - Celebration City Fun-day edition

SKNVibes Fun Day
By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - BRIGHT smiles, hearty laughs, good music, mouth-watering food, creative games and great people are the elements of an amazing day.

And it was indeed an amazing day when the SKNVibes family gathered at Douglas Estate, St. Peters on Saturday (Mar. 3) to continue the celebration of its 10th anniversary with a Celebration City-sponsored Family Fun-day.

The day began with the eats. The SKNVibes team along with close friends and family members sat and socialised while 'chowing down' on a number of delectable dishes while a compilation of modern day hip-hop, pop, and rap music played in the background.

    Then it was games time!

While the children enjoyed finger foods and bouncing castles, the adults gathered into three teams - Unstoppable Force, Full Throttle and Rebels - in preparation for the game section of the day's festivities appropriately dubbed "Laff A Lympics".

First up was the 'Fire wall egg challenge' where an egg was fastened to the forehead of a participant of each group using stockings. The objective was to prevent the other teams from cracking your team’s egg.

Next was 'Text it Find It - Peas in de Pool'. One member of each team was charged with diving in a pool and picking up peas with their mouth with the team member recovering the most peas within a one minute time-span, being the winner.

The third challenge was dubbed 'Slippery Water'. One member tossed balloons filled with water and lathered in dish liquid to another member and the team that safely caught the most balloons being judged the winner. Each team was given five chances.

The Treasure Hunt challenge sent the groups into a frenzy with mind boggling riddles as clues leading to the discovery of each prize.

The 'Gregory Gill Gobble' was said to be the most challenging game as no team won. One team member was given a word and, while under water, had to give clues for the other team members to guess the word.

Another interesting challenge was the 'Classified Meals' where a member of each team was treated to assorted delicacies and the individual who finished first being adjudged the winner. The treats included sliced apples smothered in hot sauce, corn flakes draped in cod liver oil, and seafood mix glazed with orange marmalade.

Other challenges included 'Peas and Straw', 'Flour Hop', 'Wired Web', and a few races.

The day began to wind down with 'Entertainment Idol' when each group created a song to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the media house.

At the end of all challenges, the Unstoppable Force team proved it was a force that was truly unstoppable as that team emerged the overall winner.

All prizes won were compliments Celebration City which provided entertainment for the children with the bouncing castle and slide as well as party favours for all who attended the event.

Celebration City is located on Rosemary Lane and caters to all of one’s celebration needs. From party bags to utensils to accessories - anything party - you name it, they have it and more!

The SKNVibes festivities continued on Sunday (Mar. 4) with a trip over to sister isle Nevis to dine and peel away the daily bustle at the Nelson Spring Resort.
