BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS-TWO cars collided head-on along the island’s main road near to the International University Of Nursing (IUON) and the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine this afternoon (June 7th) at approximately 2:30, leaving three persons seriously injured.

Upon arriving at the scene SKNVibes.com learnt that a white Honda, PA 1694, was traveling West toward Sandy Point when it crossed the center line and collided at the right front fender with a green Nissan Almera, P 5517, which was headed east toward Basseterre.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Garrett Payne was driving PA 1694 at the time of the crash and was immediately rushed to the John N. France Hospital by Emergency Medical Technicians.

The driver of P 5517, a man identified at the time by the alias ‘Bal’, was pinned in the driver’s seat of his vehicle due to damage to the front right fender of the car. It was also said that the young man was a resident of Pitcairn Street, Newtown.

Fire and Rescue personnel worked quickly to remove the door from the Nissan and pull ‘Bal’ from the wreckage. Members of the IUON and the St. Kitts Red Cross also rushed to the scene and provided medical assistance where they could.  ~~Adz:Right~~

The third injured party was Lester ‘Eightball’ Tross, also of Newtown, who was riding as a passenger in the Nissan at the time and sustained injuries to his head and hands. Tross’ wounds were treated by emergency workers before he was taken to the hospital. The extent of the injuries to both drivers involved is not known at this time.

Traffic through the area remained congested for over an hour as emergency personnel worked to remove the mangled vehicles and clean the roadway.

Persons on the scene had many theories as to the cause of the collision but police officers at the scene said they would only release an official statement upon completion of their investigations.
