BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ANOTHER illegal firearm is off the streets of the Federation and one individual is in custody following its discovery; thanks to the increased security initiative by units of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

The person in custody is Rasheda Richards of Camps Village.

A police press release stated that during a security patrol at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday (Mar. 15), members of the Delta Squad stopped and searched Richards and Rayheim Forbes of Fort Thomas Road at the JNF General Hospital on suspicion of having firearms, ammunition and controlled drugs in their possession.

“During the search of the individuals, among the items found were one .380 pistol with five rounds of live ammunition,” the release said.

It also said that the Delta Squad Supervisor, Sergeant Edwards, wishes to thank the public for the support given to this new crime-fighting unit and endeavours to ensure that the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis are treated with respect.

“The Commissioner of Police,” the release added, “wishes to remind all stakeholders of the need to ensure that increased security measures are to be encouraged and implemented at the various institutions so as to assist the police in the increased standard of security coverage throughout the Federation.

“We are quite pleased with the support given thus far but encourage all to continue to unite with our agency as we continue to take back the streets of our Federation.”
