By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SHEFTON BLAKE of Trafalgar Village was yesterday (Mar. 19) charged after members of the Anti-Narcotics Unit found a large quantity of marijuana plants growing on his premises.

Police Press and Public Relations Officer Sergeant (SGT) Stephen Hector said a search on Blake’s premises was conducted yesterday during “which one Veronica Thomas was present on the property and was also subjected to conditions of the search warrant”.

The PRO informed that a total of 135 marijuana plants were found, uprooted and seized, and a small quantity of cured cannabis was also found on Blake’s property.

“As a result of this find, formal charges were preferred to Shefton Blake for the drug offences of possession, possession with intent to supply and cultivation of controlled drugs,” he added.

Hector said investigations surrounding this discovery are ongoing and that SGT Travis Rogers, head of the Anti-Narcotics Unit, wishes to thank “the public for their continued support to the unit in its fight in the interdiction of and the drug demand reduction within the Federation”.

He said too that the Commissioner of Police wishes to remind the general public that the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is fully exercising its Zero Tolerance Policy to Crime and Violence with a view to ensure peace and safety within the twin-island Federation.
