Gentleman's New York album launch a smashing success

    New York New York, March 21st, 2012  --  German's multi-platinum sinjay Gentleman, currently on his first major North & South America tour stopped in New York City last week to launch his new VP album 'Diversity' at the trendy Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan.

     

    The award-winning artist, one of the hottest reggae recorders in Europe mesmerized New York fans with choice cuts from his new disc. Working with his Evolution band in tow, the talented sinjay effortlessly moved from one style to the next, taking fans on a musical stroll with songs like 'Good Old Days,' 'Different Places,' 'Jah Inna Yuh Life,' 'Changes' and his 2005 hit 'Intoxication' which drew the first encore of the night.

     

    "I am extremely pleased with the large turn out tonight and the positive reception at this my first performance in NY" Gentleman said moments after leaving the stage. "New York reggae fans have fully embraced my music and for the I am thankful" he disclosed.

     

    Gentleman, the son of a Lutheran pastor who recently performed in Jamaica at the Jazz & Blues Festival was drawn to reggae’s revolutionary spirit and truth-seeking lyrics ever since he was introduced to the island’s sounds. He had released six albums and sold over one million units in Europe.

     

    The international version of his album 'Diversity' has already sold Gold (more than 100,000 units) and charted at #1 in Germany as well as #2 in Switzerland and Austria and is the follow-up to his Europe platinum-selling record Confidence. He has since released a string of solo hits and platinum-selling records in Europe.

     

    He has collaborated with artists ranging from pop superstars Pink and Destiny’s Child to reggae legends Michael Franti & Spearhead, Barrington Levy and singer Richie Stephens whom he recorded current singles 'Live Your Life' and 'Warrior' which are doing exceptionally well in the Diaspora.

     

    His special guest at the album launch - the dapper Stephens - came out swinging, delivering a spirited, high energy, fun filled performance. The reggae crooner ruled the stage with his hit single "Winner" and the collaboration on "Warrior" which was delivered with passion and precision.

     

    Scores of music lovers, entertainers, tastemakers and music executives turned out to show support for Gentleman and the party was saturated with good vibes. Moments before the curtain fell, radio host Chris Dubb Master of Irie Jam Radio presented Gentleman and Stephens with crystal plaques for their collaborative single "Live You Life" which was voted by Irie Jam Radio listener as the '2011 Song of the Year.'

     

    During the award presentation, Team Jamaica Bickle founder and CEO Irwine Clare and actor Malik Yoba - known for his starring roles in the FOX police drama series New York Undercover and Cool Runnings -  joined the the two reggae stars on stage. The memorable night climaxed with Stephens and Gentleman delivering a rousing rendition of their award winning song 'Live Your Life' which was warmly received by fans.

     

    Among those attending were VP Records label executive Chris Chin, Sirius Satellite Program Director/radio host Pat McKay; Bobby Clarke, founder/CEO of Irie Jam Media; Syn Dawkins, founder of Irie Fashion Rave; award winning author Sandy Daley who was visiting from Toronto; reggae singers Ed Robinson and Leighton Morris; Third World's Band manager Victor Ray and TV hosts Sanjay (Intense, TV Jamaica) and Wiinford Williams (On Stage, CVM TV) who were visiting from Jamaica.
