Newton Ground female charged with arms, ammo find at RLB Airport
…two more women in Police custody

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - VERLYN ZAKERS of Newton Ground was arrested and charged in connection with a quantity of guns and ammunition that were found yesterday at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.
When SKNVibes had heard of the incident information was sketchy, but since then a Police press release was issued indicating that sometime yesterday a young woman was arrested “after the packages that she was clearing were found to contain six firearms, over 400 rounds of assorted ammunition and a quantity of seeds suspected to be marijuana seeds.”
SKNVibes understands that the firearms and ammunition were concealed in three packages which also contained children bicycles and an inflatable swimming pool. The weapons are said to be one Carbine Highpoint Gun, four 9mm Pistols and a .45 Pistol.
This media house was informed that Customs Officers made the discovery when Zakers went to the airport to clear three packages that were sent from the United States of America.
On discovery of the contents, SKNVibes learnt that the Police were notified and she was taken into custody and investigations led to the arrest of two other females; one of whom is also from Newton Ground.
SKNVibes also learnt that Zakers was charged with possession of ammunition and possession of firearms.
Police stated that they are making investigations into the incident but did not indicate whether or not the other two women are likely to be charged or be release.
