Press Release

KINGSTOWN St.Vincent, March 22nd, 2012  --  The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is partnering with the East Caribbean Group of Companies to embark on a National Poultry Project, which is expected to pump millions of dollars into the local economy.

A release from the Ministry of Agriculture says through this joint initiative this country will benefit from an investment opportunity in the production and processing of Poultry Products.

According to Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar, the success of the project will retain approximately 26-million dollars in the Vincentian economy by reducing the import of poultry products, namely Whole Birds and Chicken Parts.

One of the main components of the project will be the establishment of a number of Nuclear Farms on which Farmers on contractual arrangement, will rear the Birds to maturity.

On Monday, Minister Caesar accompanied a team of officials from the ECGC, the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade and the Surveys Department, to Montreal to view the proposed site of the nuclear farms.

The team also visited the National Poultry Hatchery at Dumbarton which is expected to supply the chicks for the farms.
