BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force received a vehicle that will aid its members in their crime fighting strategies, specifically in the area of illegal drugs.

Yesterday (Mar. 26), the force received a pick-up truck from the United States Embassy which will be used by the Nevis Division’s Task Force; the equivalent of the Anti-Narcotics Unit in St. Kitts.

Director of the Narcotics Affairs Section of the US Embassy, Bridgetown, Kurt van der Walde said it was a pleasure to be there and to donate the vehicle on behalf of the United States government.

“It was our way of recognising the great work Commissioner Walwyn was doing by bringing modern policing techniques to the force both in St. Kitts and Nevis. We intend to offer a lot more support in the coming years,” he said.

Commissioner of Police Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn accepted the keys on behalf of the Nevis Task Force and thanked van der Walde and the US Embassy.

Walwyn said that it was the police’s job “to ensure that crime in the Federation is eradicated. We know that some of the funds generated by criminal activity are based on narcotics and we will do everything we can to take our streets back from crime”.
