~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE two women who were arrested with Verlyn Zakers in connection with an arms and ammunition find at the Robert L. Bradshaw (RLB) International Airport on Thursday last, have since been discharged.
Head of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Department, Inspector Cromwell Henry, told this media house that one of the ladies was discharged last Thursday and the other yesterday “pending further investigations”.
Sometime on Thursday, June 12, news quickly spread throughout the Federation that something was amiss at the RLB International Airport. When this media house made investigations, it was found that three women were taken into Police custody after a package that one of them was clearing was found to contain guns, ammunition and what is believed to be marijuana seeds.
On Friday Police said Verlyn Zakers was charged with one count each of “possession of ammunition” and “possession of firearms.”
According to information received, one Carbine Highpoint Gun, four 9mm Pistols, one .45 Pistol and 400 rounds of assorted ammunition were found concealed in three packages containing children’s bicycles and an inflatable swimming pool.
SKNVibes is not certain as to whether Zakers has made an application for bail, but understands that she is still in Police custody.
