BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE young man who lost his life by drowning on Sunday (Apr. 1) evening has been identified as Tasif Nisbett of Cayon.

The tragic incident took place during a boat ride which is said to have been organised by popular calypsonian ‘Big Lice’.

While ‘Big Lice’ confirmed Nisbett’s death, he has since indicated that he has no comment on the matter.

This publication received unconfirmed reports – however – which suggest that Nisbett was a participant in boat ride aboard Irie Lime and was making an attempt to board a jet ski from the vessel when he fell into the sea.

Other unconfirmed reports suggest that he was aboard a jet ski with another who was operating it and he fell from it into the Caribbean Sea.

He was reportedly removed from the sea and transported to the Alexandra Hospital where he died around 6:00 p.m..

Information surrounding the incident remains sketchy and contact was made with the Assistant Commissioner of Police and District Commander of District ‘C’ Robert Liburd concerning the matter.

He informed this media house that according to a directive handed down by the Commissioner of Police, Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn, he is not to give information to the media.

“All communication from the Police Department must go through the Press Officer SGT Hector. That is the directive coming from the Commissioner.”

Contact was subsequently made with the PRO, SGT Hector, who indicated that he does not have all the information and that he would issue a press release by 11:00 a.m., approximately two hours after contact was made.

Late yesterday afternoon, however, a release came from SGT Hector which states, “Officers of the Nevis Division RSCNPF are currently investigating the circumstances which resulted in the death of Asis Nisbette of Cayon St. Kitts.

“Asis Nisbette was pronounced dead at the Alexzandra Hospital at about 6:00pm by Dr. Martinez. Preliminary investigations reveal that Asis Nisbette travelled to Nevis on a catermeran cruise and whilst in the process of leaving the vessel to come ashore at Pinneys Beach he drowned. 28 year old Asis Nisbette was assisted by the paramedics and was transported to the Hospital. As the investigation progress more information will be provided to the public."

Nisbett – this publication understands – was employed as a postman and was a deejay in his spare time and the owner of Ruff House Sounds.
