NSWMA Participates In JICA's 2nd Regional Workshop

    ST.JOHN'S Antigua,  April 4th,  2012  --  General Manager Denise Roberts and Programme Manager, David Spencer represented the NSWMA at the 2nd Regional Workshop on Solid Waste Management held by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

     

    The Workshop was held in the Dominican Republic on March 13th & 14th. Also representing Antigua & Barbuda Waste Recycling Cooperation was its Plant Manager, Devon Ferris.
     

     

    The objective of the workshop was to contribute to better implementation of the Action Plans of former trainees on the ground while focussing on community based recycling system and improvement of final dumping site.

     

    The Workshop looked at good practices and lessons learned through the cooperation between the Dominican Republic and JICA Regional Office in the Caribbean.

     

    One of the regional “success” case studies presented was that of ABWREC as it demonstrated the possibilities of a recycling even in small island societies.
