    Two arrested for drug possession in routine operations

    ~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ROUTINE OPERATIONS conducted by members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force resulted in the arrests and charges of two individuals for drug possession.

     

    Both operations, according to a Police press release, took place last week Wednesday but while one was in the Basseterre area the other was in Brighton.

     

    During the Basseterre operation, routine stops and searches were made and persons were searched for illegal drugs, firearms and ammunition. According to Police, Chad Mills of St. Johnson Village was found carrying a quantity of marijuana and was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis.
     
    Charles Brookes of Shadwell Housing was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply during the stop and search operation conducted in the Brighton area.

     

    COURT  CONVICTIONS

     

    Persons convicted last week at the Federation’s Traffic Courts have to now find a combined approximate $7 000 in fines, which they were ordered to pay as punishment for their wrong doings.

     

    Bird rock resident Vomal Boyal, who was convicted of the offences of “giving a false name to a police officer”, “driving without insurance”, “driving without a driver’s license and “fraudulently using another person’s driver’s licence”, was fined $2 000, $700 and $300 respectively on the first three offences and was convicted and cautioned on the last.

     

    “Driving without a driver’s license”, “failing to report a traffic accident”, “failing to stop at an accident”, “driving without insurance” were the offences with which Rajak Randhawa of Frigate Bay was charged.

     

    On the first charge, he was fined $300 and a $700 fine was imposed on the last. He was convicted and cautioned on the second and third charges.

     

    For “permitting another to drive without a license” and “permitting another to drive without insurance”, Shanell Pereira of Bird Rock was convicted and cautioned.

     

    Brian Drew of Frigate Bay was ordered to pay [forthwith] a $700 fine that was imposed on him for driving without insurance.

     

    For “driving off the bus route”, Delvin Maynard of Keys Village was order to pay, forthwith, a $100 fine.

     

    While he was convicted, Wrensford King of Bird Rock was cautioned for driving without due care and attention.

     

    A $700 fine has to be paid by Sartaj Saghgu of Bird Rock, who was convicted for obstructing a Police Officer in the execution of his duty.

     

    Meanwhile, Clyde Francis of St. Pauls Village stood before the District ‘B’ Magistrate Court on a charge of “making use of threatening language”.  He was convicted of the May 31, 2008 offence and ordered by the court to pay $750 within two months or serve one month imprisonment.

     

    ARRESTS

     

    Four individuals will have their day in court shortly, as they were arrested and charged with various offences.

     

    Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point resident Dwight Peets was arrested and charged with “indecent assault”, an offence which Police claim was committed on May 25, 2008.

     

    “Larceny” was the offence for which Ricardo Hill of Beach Road, Nevis was arrested. The offence is said to have been committed on May 15, 2008.

     

    Tosh Boston of Caunt Street, Newtown was arrested and charged with one count of “larceny”, an offence he allegedly committed on June 7, 2008.

     

    New Castle, Nevis resident Howani Davis was arrested and charged for driving without insurance and driving without a valid driver’s license.
