    Six months for cell phone theft

    ~~Adz:Left~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TOSH BOSTON of Newtown was on Monday convicted and imprisoned for larceny of a cellular phone.
     
    A police press release informs that Boston, who appeared before the District “A” Magistrate’s Court on June 23, 2008, was convicted of the offence and sentenced to serve six months at Her Majesty’s Prison.
     
    According to the particulars of the case, Boston stole a Motorola cellular phone from Rudell Williams of Haynes Smith Village and was arrested and charged on June 7, 2008.
     
    Boston was also ordered by the court to pay $700 compensation to Williams within the next seven months and, if he fails to comply, he would have to serve another month behind bars.
     
    Leroy Phillip of Stone Fort Project was also sentenced to serve time in prison after he was convicted on an assault charge. He was sentenced to serve one month at Her Majesty’s Prison, but was convicted and cautioned on an indecent language charge.
     
    Also at the said court, a $2 700 fine was handed down to Alphonso Matthew who was convicted of possession of cannabis, which was committed on September 30, 2007.  He has two months to pay the fine and, failing to do so, a two-month custodial sentence would be imposed.

     

    Cedar Grove, St. Peters resident Trevor Edmeade has the next three months find $750; the sum he was ordered to pay by the court for beating his ex-girlfriend. Edmeade was convicted for beating Isis Nisbett of Tabernacle and a one-month prison sentence would be imposed should he fail to pay the fine within the allotted time period.

     

    Upon conviction of a December 10, 2007 “obstruction” offence, Roger Benjamin of Buckleys Estate was fined $500 which is to be paid in one week, or in default serve one month in prison. 

     

    At the District “B” Magistrate’s Court on Monday, two individuals were convicted of the offences for which they were charged and were fined in accordance.

     

    Jason Thomas of Half Way Tree was convicted and fined $1 000 for careless driving, which is to be paid within four months or serve three months in prison.
     
    Meril Warner of Sandy Point is to receive $675 compensation from Tyrone Richardson of Dieppe Bay by the order of the court. Richardson was convicted for causing malicious damage to Warner’s cellular phone. He was also convicted for battery but cautioned.

     


    ARRESTS

     

    Wilson Jones of Farms, Nevis and Leroy Martin of Conaree Village were arrested and charged with three counts of larceny and one count of robbery respectively. Police have informed that Jones’ offence was committed on February 25, 2008 and Martin’s on June 21, 2008.

     

    Half Way Tree resident Isiah Williams and Junieve Henry of The Alley, Sandy Point were jointly arrested and charged with a June 21, 2008 offence of “wounding”. Their arrest took place two days after the incident occurred.
