Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 13th, 2012 (SKNIS): Two officials from the Caribbean Environmental Health Institute (CEHI) will be in the Federation next week to update on plans for the staging of the 6th Biennial Caribbean Environmental Forum (CEF) & Exhibition and the 16th Annual Wider Caribbean Waste Management Conference scheduled for May 21 to 25, 2012 at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.

Starting Monday, Christopher Roberts, Chief Finance Officer of (CEHI) and Patricia Aquing, Executive Director of CEHI, will meet with local officials and coordinators, to determine the progress of the arrangements for the event.  There will also be a press briefing on Monday, to update the media and in extension the general public.

CEF-6 is expected to bring together a cross-section of professionals and others concerned with or involved in environmental and developmental issues.  It will be held in collaboration with the Wider Caribbean Waste Management Conference which will attract professionals from various disciplines willing to share their experiences and knowledge.

Objectives include presenting an opportunity for networking and partnership arrangements, exposing the region to new and relevant environmental technology and providing a regional forum for presenting and discussing issues related to Small Island Developing States.

Acting as a regional arena for bringing together key Caribbean and International stakeholders as well as focusing public attention on key sustainable development concerns of the region and the world are also expected outcomes.
