Decomposed body of elderly woman found in home

Employees of Jenkins Funeral Home about to take the body away

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE decomposed body of an elderly woman was discovered sometime after 11:00 .m. today (Apr. 14) in her home.

     

    The woman was identified as Rose Seaton who resided in an apartment building opposite the Chinese supermarket on Wellington Road.

     

    She was said to have last been seen on her verandah on Wednesday morning (Apr. 11).

     

    According to sources, a foul scent was emanating from the woman’s home and the authorities were informed.

     

    Personnel of the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services were summoned to the scene to open the door via forced entry because it was locked from the inside.

     

    Police officers, an ambulance and members from Jenkins Funeral Home were also at the scene along with a group of curious onlookers.

     

    Her body was taken away in a wooden box by the funeral home and immediately buried at the Springfield Cemetery, according to sources.

     

    No foul play suspected.
