    Police Round-up

     

    ~~Adz:Left~~Arrests

     

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - Nikoyan Greaux of Central Street was on Wednesday 25th June 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of larceny. The offence was committed on 13th June 2008.

     

    Glenroy Desuza of Sandy Point was arrested and charged on Friday 27th June 2008 with the offences of escaping lawful custody and indecent language.

     

    Leon Sutton of Saddlers Village was arrested and charged on Friday 27th June 2008 with the offences of being found with house breaking implements and larceny. The offences were committed on 3rd June 2008.

     

    Troy Merrit of Lower Monkey Hill was arrested and charged on Saturday 28th June 2008 with the offences of obstruction and resisting arrest.

     

    Police Operations

     

    On Wednesday 25th June 2008 police executed a search warrant on the premises of Olivia and Jason Henderson of Keys Village for controlled drugs, arms and ammunition and 70 marijuana plants were found growing at the back of the property in a garden. The plants were uprooted and taken into custody. Jason was subsequently arrested and charged with the offences of possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

     

    Police also conducted search operations on Thursday 26th June 2008 in the Lodge and Ottleys area and a total of 5000 marijuana plants were found growing in cane fields in both areas. The plants were uprooted and taken into police custody but no one was held accountable for the find.

     

    Police on Nevis also conducted operations on Wednesday 25th June 2008 in the Hicks Estate area and a total of 26 marijuana plants were found growing on a plot of land. The plants were uprooted and taken into custody but no one was held accountable for the find.

     

    Court Convictions

     

    Roy Henry alias ‘Backer’ of Tank Village, Cayon, who was charged with the offence of larceny, appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on Friday 28th June 2008.He was convicted and sentenced to nine months in prison. The offence was committed on 21st June 2007.

     

    Neville Wilkin of Ponds Pasture appeared before the District ‘B’ Magistrate Court on Friday 28th June 2008 and he was convicted and fined $600.00 for the offence of careless driving. The fine must be paid in two months or he will have to serve one month in prison. 

     

    Collis Jones of Challengers Village was charged with possession of cannabis and he too appeared before the court on Friday 28th June 2008 and was convicted and ordered to pay $400.00 in two months or serve one month in prison.

     

    Also appearing before the District ‘B’ Court was Garfield Richardson of Challengers Village and he was convicted for the offence of careless driving and was ordered to pay $800.00 in two months or serve one month in prison.
