SANDY POINT, St. Kitts and Nevis, April 17th, 2012 -- Known as “A cultural fete at Bell Tete,” this annual celebration is not just a typical parade where bystanders stand along side the road and watch the masquerade bands go by – they join in, sing, dance and are completely immersed in the festivities.
With the event just a few days away, the community is abuzz with final preparations for the big day. The curtains will be drawn in grand style with pulsating rhythms from the Kollision and Lightz Out bands. The parade route has been plotted, traffic will be redirected as the highlight of the festival is the parade of revelers dressed in ornately feathered and sequined headdresses and matching brightly colored costumes will take to the streets on Saturday 21st April from 2:00pm.
An explosion of color, music, revelry, and creativity, the mass camps are poised to improve on last year’s production which added a stunning spectacle to the festival. With more troupes set to take the stage all are encouraged to register NOW as costumes are going fast.
If you haven't played mas before, now is the best time to start, as there are three all-inclusive troupes set to take the street by storm. Register early; as some section numbers are capped. Participating Mass camps are the Deep West Phunn Makers ‘Hypnotica Blue Coral’ – 663-3699, Banker & Bucksey’s ‘Estates of Sandy Point’ & ‘Easter Bunnies’- 762-6533 and the Young Mass Revelers ‘Broadway’- 669-0964.
With impressive folklore troupes, spectacular costumes, pulsating music and unparalleled stamina for partying, BLACK SAN’ parade day is set to be one of the greatest shows in the federation.
