BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN their ongoing fight to stem the flow of controlled drugs in the Federation, members of the local police force had recently located and uprooted 343 marijuana plants in St. Kitts.

A press release coming out of the Police Public Relations Office stated that on Monday (Apr. 16) officers of the Special Services Unit uprooted 192 marijuana plants ranging from one foot to five feet in heights and also 500 seedlings.

This find, the release explained, took place within the Shadwell/New Road Ghaut area and the plants were taken into custody.

However, no one was made liable in connection with the controlled drugs.

The release also stated that on the following day, officers of the Delta Squad uprooted 151 marijuana plants in the Half Moon Bay area.

“The plants were found in flower pots ranging from eight inches to four feet in height. The pots and water containers found were destroyed and the plants were taken into custody. No one was held responsible,” the release said.

It further stated that Sergeant Edwards of the Delta Squad is thankful for the support and information gained and that he would “continue to ensure that strategic partnerships are developed and maintained to ensure that effective interdiction and demand reduction measures are implemented to succeed in the national fight against narcotic trade and trans-national crime”.
