BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST two days after the execution-styled murder of Trevis Henville in McKnight, another young man was killed this morning (Apr. 19) in a similar manner.

Dead is 28-year-old Jermaine Browne of Conaree Village.

SKNVibes learnt that the incident took place shortly before seven o’clock at north of the junction of East Park Range and Park Street in the vicinity of National Housing Corporation while Browne, a construction worker, was on his way to work.

On arrival at the scene, this media house observed Browne’s lifeless body on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds, including the head and lower abdomen.

District Medical Officer Dr. Mervyn Laws, who was summoned to the scene, pronounced him dead and the body was removed by undertakers from Jenkins Funeral Home under police escort.

It is suspected that the gunman or gunmen had accosted Browne while he was awaiting transportation to get to work and led him to East Park Range to execute him.

In addition to members of the Crime Scene Unit, also present at the scene was Commissioner of Police Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn, Assistant Commissioner Ian Queeley, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department Inspector Charles Smithen and Head of the Traffic Department Inspector Cromwell Henry.

SKNVibes was however unable to gain information from any of the senior officers and was told Force Policy dictates that information must be obtained from the Force’s Public Relations Officer who was not present.

This new policy had led this media house to seek information from members of the public to acquire the name, age and residence of the victim; a policy that is seriously affecting the timely dissemination of information to the public.

Browne’s death has taken to seven the number of murders committed in the twin-island Federation for 2012; six on St. Kitts and one on Nevis.
