    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, April 19th, 2012 (CUOPM) - Another Kittitian has been appointed to serve as an Acting Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

     

    Nevisian-born Chief Justice, His Lordship Sir Hugh Rawlins, has appointed Mr. John Benjamin to be Acting Judge for the Nevis and Montserrat Circuits.

     

    His Lordship Mr. Benjamin is now sitting on the Bench at the High Court in Nevis which is  now in session.

     

    Justice Benjamin will serve from 15th April 2012 to 31st August 2012.

     

    He previously served as Acting High Court Judge for Nevis from February 1st 2012 to February 29th 2012.

     

    John Benjamin is founder and Head of Caribbean Juris Chambers, as well as the Managing Director/CEO of Benjamin Company Services Limited and Cube Credit Services Limited.

     

    Benjamin attended Selly Oak Colleges, Birmingham University, England (C.Y.C.W., 1969-1971); Warwick University, Coventry, England (LL.B. Hons., 1977); Norman Manley Law School, Mona Campus, University of the West Indies, Jamaica (LEC., 1981).

     

    Benjamin has served in the Caribbean as Crown Counsel, St. Kitts and Nevis, 1981-1983; Acting Magistrate, Anguilla, 1983-1995; Acting Magistrate, St. Kitts and Nevis and Additional Magistrate (Anguilla).

     

    Benjamin was appointed Commissioner of Oaths, 1984 and Notary Public, 1986.   He is also a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Arbitrators.

     

    Benjamin has served as Chairman of the Anguilla Tourism Board, President of the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce; a co-founder and Past President of the Anguilla Bar Association; Past  President of the Rotary International, Anguilla; Past President and Founder of Anguilla Financial Services; a member of Anguilla Tourist Association; and, a member of the Board of Caribbean Commercial Bank.

     

    Benjamin is a member of the International Bar Association; Anguilla Bar Association (President, 1986-1990, 2002); Commonwealth Lawyers Association and International Tax Planning Association.
