TDC Fun Zone… is coming! Not Coney Island

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT will not be Coney Island this weekend April 20-22 at the Newtown Playing Field but instead, Antiguan company, Livi Inflatables, will be hosting the TDC Fun Zone.

Some days ago a rumour that was spread via the BlackBerry messenger world in broadcasts, incorrectly stated that it was “Coney Island” that was coming after being absent for many years.

However, it is the TDC Fun Zone, which promises to be exciting and fun-filled, and will be open to the general public on Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The event will also cater to awarding the top two students and most improved student of each primary school classroom, (kindergarten to grade six) with an entire day for them with free rides today (Friday, April 20).

In speaking with the owner of the company, Lloyd Isaac, he said they will be bringing about eleven inflatable rides including bouncing castles, mechanic bull, inflatable dragon, inflatable basketball court and a ride called the Human Gyroscope.

The Human Gyroscope is said to utilize your core muscles to balance and goes in any direction as the amount of movement is controlled by the individua’s positioning and leaning.

It is described as fun and exciting and also a great way of exercising.

Isaac said that there will be a competition sponsored by Digicel to see who can stay on the Mechanic Bull the longest.

There will also be two large slides, one 12 feet long and the other 18 feet with an obstacle course.

Isaac first came to St. Kitts in December 2010, with his water slides and said that because of the violence he had been reading about in the local media, he was  prompted to do something to encourage the children to do more positive things.

This time around, there will be no water activities.

Livi Inflatables which is based in Antigua has been around for four years and he is hoping to branch out to more islands this year.

The cost to enter will be EC$20 with two free rides of choice while each activity will cost EC$5 and EC$50 will give the individual an unlimited number of rides.

The Saturday and Sunday events will begin from 2:00 p.m. and last until 9:00 p.m.
