BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- SHELDON PEMBERTON is “gonna be driving in style” having won the bMobile Text to Win grand prize of a BMW I series worth approximately EC $130,000 yesterday afternoon at the Cable & Wireless Sports Club Grounds, Needsmust.

The 26-year-old young man from Old Road who turned key number 5 beat out five other finalists in yesterday’s draw; three of the six were selected on the basis of having sent the most text entries and three more were selected at random from the entire entry base.

Customers had to text the word BMW to 9696 in order to be entered in the coveted draw that ran for approximately 5 months.

A jubilant Pemberton told the gathered audience that, “I always thought there was a possibility that I could win” and admitted to texting in entries about 1000 times.

After turning the lucky key and hearing the roar of the automobile’s powerful engine, the young man was so excited he was struck speechless. With hands on his head in disbelief Pemberton stood that way for a long time, perceivably shaken by the magnanimity of having won such a luxurious prize. As reality set in the winner sat in the driver’s seat and hugged the steering wheel.

When asked by Laverne Caines, Vice President Corporate Communications of Cable & Wireless whom he would be taking for the first drive, Pemberton readily responded, “My mechanic!” and revealed to SKNVibes.com that his mechanic had helped him out of many dilemmas when his “old broken down Mitsubishi Galant” had given out on him.

Pemberton took Patricia Walters, Chief Executive Officer of Cable & Wireless St. Kitts-Nevis, Mervin Frazer and Christine Clarke for a test drive around the grounds.

Clarke, a staunch bMobile customer, made a prophetic declaration during the proceedings, when one key dropped out of an envelope as Caines demonstrated for public that the bag indeed held six keys/envelopes.

“Envelope number five is the favoured key... There is no luck, only God’s favour.”

Pemberton said he has been a customer of Cable & Wireless bMobile since leaving high school, adding that his present cell phone number had made the rounds, being his first, then transferred to his brother, then to a friend and returned to him. Pemberton is employed as a bartender at Royal Beach Casino at St. Kitts Marriott Resort which coincidentally is where his mechanic Mervin 'Beres' Frazer also works.
