    Discover Dominica Authority hosted online contest winner

     

    ROSEAU Dominica, April 20th, 2012   --  The Discover Dominica Authority hosted US couple Paula and Carlos Macias from April 5 – 9, 2012 during the Easter holidays. The couple were the winners on the US-based Nate Berkus TV Show which was aired in September 2011.

     

    The “Nate Berkus Show – The Dominica Honeymoon Getaway” offered a grand prize of a trip to Dominica. The 5-day/4 night stay for two was sponsored by Rosalie Bay Resort was offered to a special couple and announced on the Nate Berkus Show.

     

    While on island the couple enjoyed activities such as a Whale Watching tour, sponsored by Dive Dominica, tours through the Morne Trois Pitons National Park and the Waitukubuli National Trail and a tour of the Kalinago Barana Aute. The couple expressed great satisfaction with their time on island and were sad to be leaving so soon.

     

    Discover Dominica Authority hosted German journalist
    The Discover Dominica Authority hosted German journalist Helmuth Meyer from April 8 – 13, 2012. Mr. Meyer was on island discovering the hiking possibilities such as the Boling Lake, Morne Diablotin and the Middleham Falls along with other activities such as horseback riding with Rainforest Riding, an Indian River tour and the Rainforest Aerial Tram.

     

    Mr. Meyer was commissioned to produce a feature for “ADAC Reisefuhrer Karibik”. The feature will be done for the ADAC guidebook which has a circulation of 5,000 and along with extra map a circulation of 7,000. The ADAC is not only a publishing house for guide books, but they are the Allgermeiner Deutscher Automobil Club, the biggest automobile association in Germany with 17 million members and a special members magazine. It is expected that after such an inspiring visit in Dominica the awareness of the destination will be increased through a great article.

     

    The Tourism Authority plans for Tourism Awareness Month
    Ongoing plans and preparation for Tourism Awareness Month in May have been moving along quite satisfactorily. The Discover Dominica Authority is excited about the hosting of this year’s TAM, which is approximately two and a half weeks away. Most of the prerecorded television events have been executed which includes the Dominica State College Tourism Debate in collaboration with the Kiwanis Club of Waitukubuli, television talk shows on tourism related topics and also a documentary depicting the typical day in the life of a Taxi Driver, Tour Guide and Vendor. The programmes will be televised throughout the month of May in an effort to educate and inform our local population about Dominica’ tourism products. The Discover Dominica Authority continues to invite partnerships from within and outside the tourism industry in order to make the 2012 Tourism Awareness Month a success.

     

    Dominica continues to receive more positive exposure
    The destination continues to receive additional exposure from articles produced based on press trips organized by the Discover Dominica Authority. The most recent was posted online by travel blogger Christina Saull who recently spent the day here in Dominica to experience what the island has to offer. The website drew attention to the travel bloggers journeys and attempts to highlight her most favourite destinations.

     

    The blogger was able to visit various sites on island and also experience the cuisine of Dominica. The Discover Dominica Authority continues to work with the travel media in ensuring that the destination continues to be a topic of interest for readers which will translate to increased visitor arrivals to the destination.
