St. Kitts Nevis 4-H honours; Sir Probyn Innis, Ann Wigley, Nova Mallalieu, Agnes Skeritt, Samuel Leader at their first Annual Historia Awards Gala

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, April 20th, 2012  --  On Saturday evening April 14th, the St. Kitts Nevis Organization hosted its first Annual 4-H Historian Awards Gala to honor five extraordinary individuals that have made a lasting impact through their efforts to cultivate St. Kitts

     

    4-H youth development program and enriched the lives of many young people in the federation.

     

    The Gala was held at the Ocean Terrace Inn, and featured 4-H youth Nigenda Walters who song “Carry your candles go light your world.”

     

    Guest Sir Edmund Lawrence Acting Governor General and President Inita Lake handed the awards.while Mr. Stuart Versailles Vice President chaired the Ceremonies.

     

    The 2012 4-H Distinguished Historian Awards were presented to:
    Sir Probyn Inniss Former President of the St. Kitts 4-H Advisory Council
    Mr. Samuel Leader former founding Member & Leader of the St. Kitts 4-H
    Mrs. Agnes Skerritt Former founding Member and Secretary of the St. Kitts 4-H
    Mrs. Nova Mallalieu Former Treasurer of the St. Kitts 4.H
    Mrs. Ann Wigley former founding and present member.

     

    4-H continues to provide high-quality positive youth development opportunities that prepare today’s youth to tackle the world’s biggest challenges,” said Inita President of the 4-H Organization. “We are thrilled to host our first annual 4-H Historian Awards Gala to honor the amazing individuals that set the pace for us to deliver on such an important mission. Their commitment and contributions exemplify the 4-H philosophy of ‘making the best better’.”

     

    The 4-H Study of Positive Youth Development. The longitudinal study has found that, when compared to other youth, young people involved in 4-H are:

     

    • Nearly two times more likely to get better grades in school;

     

    • Nearly two times more likely plans to go to college;

     

    • Three times more likely to make positive contributions to their families and communities.
