Two fined for drug possession

~~Adz:Left~~ CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – TWO men, Andrea France and Errol Herbert, will have to pay a total of EC$2 400 for having controlled drugs in their possession.
France, who committed the offence at about 4:00 p.m. on June 17, 2008, was fined EC$800 to be paid in a period of two months and, if in default, will be jailed for two months. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
On the material day, Police officers on patrol found France in Hamilton Estate chewing cannabis. He was arrested, charged and released on bail.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on June 13, 2008 in Charlestown, Herbert was found by Police officers with two small transparent plastic bags containing vegetable matter suspected to be marijuana.
He was fined EC$1 600, payable in three months or will be imprisoned for three months.
Meanwhile, a juvenile is in custody after he was found with a quantity of controlled drugs in his possession. Police officers allegedly found him smoking the drugs in Stoney Grove at 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 2008.
