BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – BRIJESH LAWRENCE is now on a direct path to the London 2012 Summer Olympics having just achieved the Olympic A Standard mark when he finished the 100m dash in a time of 10.12 seconds this weekend.
This took place at the Doane Relays yesterday (Saturday) when he left his colleagues far behind. In doing so, he broke his own school record (Doane College) which he previously held (10.28s) in 2011. He now has the 6th fastest time in the world for the 2012 season and has solidified his position as the 2nd fastest person (next to Kim Collins) to come from St. Kitts and Nevis.
Brijesh continues to build an immensely impressive record. Just 22 years old, he is already a World Championship Bronze medallist, a Pan-Am Games Silver medallist, a National Intercollegiate Champion and he now heads to the Olympics as he continues to rise and do his country proud!
But it is not only in the 100m dash that Lawrence is making his mark. Brijesh also won the 200m in a time of 20.62 seconds. His lifetime best accomplished in 2011 (20.59s) is the B qualifying standard for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
As a teamplayer in the 4 x 100 relays, he is a formidable competitor.
