BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE staff of Digicel, St. Kitts, late last week received a visit from the 2011/2012 Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen, Siobhan Phipps, who showered the title sponsor with thanks for its contribution to the opportunities which it afforded pageant contestants over the years.

The courtesy call was made on Friday morning, and during a brief ceremony Phipps expressed appreciation to the corporate citizen – both on her behalf and that of past pageant winners.

“Digicel has given a number of girls before me an opportunity beyond being in the spotlight. It is an opportunity to show your talent so that people can know what you are capable of and also an opportunity to become a role model for many people to come.

“And so today, on behalf of the other Digicel Haynes Smith Queens before and myself, I would like to say thank you. And as you continue to sponsor various projects throughout the community, we hope that you know that your sponsorship to the Digicel Haynes Smith Pageant is appreciated.”

As a tangible expression of her gratitude, Phipps presented a large framed picture of herself at the top of which bears her name and title.

Digicel’s Marketing Manager Marsha Chatterjee told the media that the portrait would be proudly mounted in the reception area of the business’ Port Zante office.

Recounting Phipps’ success, Chatterjee explained, “On December 29, 2011 the 32nd annual Digicel Haynes Smith Talented Teen competition was held in St. Kitts. We had 13 girls from various Caribbean countries participating in the pageant and we are pleased to confirm that the winner, the reigning Talented Teen, is none other than Siobhan Phipps from St. Kitts.”

She said Phipps has made Digicel “very proud of her” and that “she did a very good job”.

In addition to the Blackberry Torch handset and the laptop she received having won the crown, Phipps left Friday’s event with six months free unlimited data and a travel/laptop bag courtesy Digicel.
