Press Release (SKNIS)

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, April 26th 2012 (SKNIS) - Moving towards a more efficient water service delivery system remains a major priority for the Government of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Such were the sentiments uttered during a recent SKNIS interview with Water Services Engineer and Manager Mr. Cromwell Williams. The discussion was, at the time, centered on Water Services Department’s intention to relocate and upgrade their water billing system.

According to the Water Engineer, as of September, 2012 operations offices for processing, preparation and payment of water bills will be transferred to the Needsmust office. He reiterated though, that in addition to the avenues currently available for paying of water bills – namely the internet, all established banks and the Cable TV, Water Services Department intends to make other payment centers within the city limits available for the convenience of customers.

In addition, Mr. Williams said that a number of factors necessitated this important move, with some of the more important of these being the modernization of the department’s processing and billing instruments, ascertaining the accuracy of and regularizing customers’ billing information and optimizing the use of office space.

Mr. Williams also used the opportunity of the interview to offer useful tips on general prudent use and conservation of this country’s water resources and remind citizens that Government’s efforts to continue to provide clean, fresh, potable water is by no means a cheap undertaking.
