Canadian company expresses interest in St. Kitts

Press Release (CUOPM)

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 1st, 2012 (CUOPM)   -  A Canadian company has expressed an interest in setting up operations in St. Kitts.

This was disclosed Tuesday by St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr.  Denzil L. Douglas during his weekly radio programme.

Although Prime Minister Douglas did not name the name of the company he said senior representatives officials have already held preliminary discussions with officials of the St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA).

“This not only means investor confidence in my Government and in St. Kitts and Nevis, but also would lead to increased employment opportunities for the skilled and unskilled workers of St. Kitts and Nevis, but also the associated economic spin-off for the Federation,” said Prime Minister Douglas.

He said government will continue to strengthen the manufacturing sector and to make St. Kitts and Nevis – already the leading exporter of manufactured products to the US in the entire Eastern Caribbean and Barbados - even more attractive, as an investment site, to manufacturing interests.
