    Information Technology Training being offered to Single-parents in the Half-Way Tree, Sandy Point and Newton Ground Communities

     


    ~~Adz:Left~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- The National Skills Training Program in conjunction with the Basic Needs Trust Fund Programme and SEN Consulting out of Sandy Point announces the start of an Information Technology Training Course.

     

    From July 28th 2008, a thirteen (13) week Information Technology Training Program will commence in Sandy Point for single parents from the Half-Way Tree, Newton Ground and Sandy Point communities. The purpose of the training is to provide an introduction to basic computer hardware and software processing to residents who otherwise would not have been exposed to the computer and it’s potential.

     

    The program aims to target a grand total of forty-eight (48) community members who will be exposed to five (5) modules of computer training including; Introduction to the Computer, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher and the Internet. The training is expected to occur in four (4) groups of twelve persons each receiving a total of three (3) hours of training spread over two (2) days per week for a total of thirteen (13) weeks. One group will be from Half-Way Tree, another from Newton Ground and two groups from Sandy Point.

     

    The goal of the training program is to equip trainees with the basic knowledge required by the business community for their inclusion in the advancing information technology sectors that are rapidly emerging. With an aim to holistically address poverty, the project has three (3) components, namely Information Technology training, personal development workshops and professional development seminars. Additionally, child care for those under the age of 12 years will be offered to the attendees.

     

    At the close of the training program, all successful trainees will receive a certificate of training from the National Skills Training Program, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education.

     

    As such, we invite all interested single-parents from the Half-Way Tree, Sandy Point and Newton Ground communities to call the Basic Needs Trust Fund Office (467-1315) to sign up for the program.
