Future Leaders represent St. Kitts-Nevis in Paraguay

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts-Esteemed representation from St. Kitts-Nevis in the persons of the Hon. Shawn K Richards , Deputy Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement and Ms. Yvette Herbert , Vice President of the Youth for Change group were among 500 young leaders who attended the Universal Peace Federation’s Global Peace Festival and International Leadership Conference under the themes: ‘One Family Under God’ and ‘Towards a New Paradigm of Leadership and Good Governance’ both held in Asuncion Paraguay South America from the 2nd-6th July 2008.
At the conclusion of the events, Ms. Herbert amongst others was acknowledged as an Ambassador for Peace. When questioned about her new title Ms. Herbert had this to say; “I stand with pride having represented my country in the conference and festival and I am honored to be labeled as an ‘Ambassador for Peace’.
My task to promote global peace will not be an easy one, due to the many immoralities that plague our federation; however, I am charged with this duty and I will commit myself to its accomplishment.
I have a desire to contribute and commit to the works of UPF by promoting solidarity and peace. I am of the opinion that there is hope, we have the ability to transform St. Kitts-Nevis into a federation that is built on morals and unity.”
Ms. Herbert went on to say, “While in Paraguay I was informed of the two murders that took place in St. Kitts. As I thought about the murders, the upsurge of crime and the existence of immorality it was quite apparent that the federation is in dire need for peace interventions. ~~Adz:Right~~
My first action as Ambassador for peace will be to work along with my Hon. Richards and the youth groups throughout the federation to organize a march against crime along with an anti-crime rally that I hope would be the commencement of many anti-crime activities to come.”
Both Herbert and Hon. Richards expressed their profound gratitude to have had the opportunity to represent the federation and looks forward to representing the federation in other conferences of such quality.
