ROADTOWN Tortola BVI,  May 4th, 2012  – The Water and Sewerage Department is advising its customers that the Balsam Ghut Reservoir on Tortola will be out of service from 10th May 2012 to 21st May, 2012 to facilitate the repair of the slab and interior and exterior of the water storage tank.

Customers affected will include the areas of Balsam Ghut, Lambert Estate, Shepherd Hill, Greenland and Josiahs Bay. In order to maintain a continuous supply of potable water to its customers, the Department will be pumping directly into the water distribution network during this period.

However, the Department is encouraging its customers to start filling up their cisterns or have adequate storage as a back-up source of water supply in the event of shortages, lack of supply and low pressure. Consequently, the Water & Sewerage Department is advising any customer who experiences a prolonged interruption in their supply to contact the Customer Service Hotline at 468-5800 or the Department’s main office at 494-3416 or 494-3417 between the hours of 8:30 to 4:30, Monday to Friday. For emergencies and after hours contact you may dial 494-3473.

The Water and Sewerage Department humbly apologizes for the inconvenience caused. We would also like to say thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding, as we strive to fulfil our commitment to provide a continuous supply of safe potable water to all BVI residents.
