Department of Physical Planning and Environment says Thank You

The Director of the Department of Physical Planning and Environment applauded and praised the many businesses and organizations who contributed to the staging of the Environmental Parade on June 20th 2008.
He especially acknowledged and thanked the St. Kitts Bottling Company Ltd and the St. Kitts Marriott Resort for their invaluable contribution to the said event in a small appreciation ceremony held at the Department on Monday 7th July 2008.
Mr. Edmead expressed sincere thanks on behalf of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Department to the Marketing Manager- Mr. Kiethley Phillip of the St. Kitts Bottling Company Ltd who accepted the token of appreciation presented to him on behalf of his company.

forward,” said Mr. Edmead, “and hope that this relationship will continue.”
Mr. Phillip assured Mr. Edmead that indeed the St. Kitts Bottling Company can be called upon at any time and deems it a pleasure to assist in any sustainable activity that deals with the upkeep of the Environment, as mandated by Coco Cola.
The environmental parade held on June 20th 2008 incorporated some 300 primary school students from all the school in St. Kitts addressing this year’s World Environment Day theme: CO2, Kick the Habit- Towards a Low Carbon Economy.

The theme encourages persons to adopt lifestyles using alternative energy sources and to improve energy efficiency and eco-friendly consumption.
With this in mind, the parade was divided into four environmental sections- Climate Change, Biodiversity, Ozone and Land Degradation.
“Despite the inclement weather on that day, the students were still able to parade the streets of Basseterre carrying their environmental messages on placards representing their appropriate environmental area,” said Teshelle Francis- Environmental Education Officer at the Department.
As a token of gratitude for their involvement each school were presented with participation certificates.
“This assures the principals of all the schools that we were sincerely grateful for allowing their student’s to take part in such an educational/social activity.” ~~Adz:Right~~
The event of June 20th 2008 was organized by the Department of Physical Planning and Environment in the Ministry of Sustainable Development located at Bladens Commercial Development, Wellington Road, Basseterre, St. Kitts.
