Work on Greenland Road Improvement Project Moving Smoothly

~~Adz:Left~~ROADTOWN, Tortola– Work is progressing smoothly on the Greenland Road Improvement Project.

The project which resumed in March is a part of Government’s $10 million road Improvement project to repair damage done to the Territory’s infrastructure during the November 2003 floods.

The improvement work included the construction of box drains and the installation of culverts and manholes.  Work continues today with the re-grading of the road levels and subsequently the asphalt surfacing of the entire section.

The Ministry of Communications and Works reiterates its commitment to deliver a sound roadway solution.

Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, within whose portfolio this project falls, Mr. Gary Penn expressed his regrets for the inconvenience caused as a result of the project. Mr. Penn also thanks the residents of the area for their continued patience and understanding.

Motorists are advised that the road is closed from WALTSCO Ltd. East End Snackette to Andy’s Car Wash.  However, residents will be given access to their properties. The re-grading of the road is projected to last four days.  The road adjacent to the East End/Long Look Community Centre will be opened for the duration of the project.

The road reconstruction project is in keeping with government’s commitment to modernise and expand the road network throughout the Territory.
