BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SUPERINTENDENT of Prisons Franklyn Dorset has dispelled as “totally untrue” rumours that a recently condemned prisoner killed himself today at Her Majesty’s Prison.
SKNVibes received a number of telephone calls from individuals seeking to confirm or disprove rumours suggesting that either Romeo ‘Buncum’ Cannonier or Ruedeney ‘Denny’ Williams had committed suicide by hanging.
Superintendent Dorset indicated that the rumours are untrue and the condemned men are “alive and well”.
Buncum and Denny along with Louis ‘Tooloo’ Gardner and Sheldon ‘Hatcher’ Isaac were yesterday sentenced to death by hanging after they were convicted on June 12, 2008 of the March 21, 2005 murder of Saddlers resident Gavin ‘Magilla’ Gilbert. Gilbert was shot while walking towards his home sometime

after 9:00 that evening.
While Buncum was remanded in prison at the time of the commission of the offence, he was believed to have been the mastermind behind the plan and was unanimously convicted.
Gilbert was scheduled to testify in another case of murder brought against Buncum for the shooting death of Police Constable Delvin Nisbett. He was also convicted of that offence.
SKNVibes was exposed to further rumours suggesting that Lester ‘8 Ball’ Tross, who was recently remanded to prison for the murder of Shamari “Kwazi’ Williams, committed suicide. Dorset, however, indicated that that rumour is also untrue and he too is “alive and well”.
He was also asked specifically if any of the inmates at Her Majesty’s Prison attempted to or committed suicide and he indicated that as far as he knows, no such thing has taken place.
