BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ONE man is currently in custody and another is being sought by the police in connection with last night’s (June 2) shooting incident in Union Street where three men were injured.

According to Police Press and Public Information Officer (PIO) Sergeant Stephen Hector, the police have taken one person in connection with this incident and “we are thankful for the support of the community thus far, but we wish to advise you the general public that we are currently listing one Kirk Hobson of Fort Thomas Road, alias Scotty, as a person of interest”.

Hobson, the PIO said, is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached if seen, but anyone having information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Police Headquarters at 465-2241 or the nearest police station.

“This kind of reckless disregard for the peace within the Federation is not condoned by Commissioner CG Walwyn and, as a result, all Law Enforcement Agencies have been officially notified of the need to apprehend this person of interest. As such, if he does not present himself to the police by 6:00 p.m. today, the 2nd of June 2012, an extensive manhunt will be launched.

“We wish to advise the general public that it is a criminal offence to aid, abet, relieve, comfort or in any other way assist Kirk Hobson in evading efforts of law enforcement to bring him to Justice. Our position is clear and our resolve is certain as we deploy all measures to ensure that the safety and security of the Federation and its citizens is maintained,” Hector said.

Hobson is said to be fair in complexion, 27 years old, six feet tall, black hair with brown eyes, medium built and sports a ‘Tedre’ tattoo on his left hand.

At about 9:00 p.m. yesterday (June 1), two armed, masked men fired a number of shots at persons who were in a shop on Union Street in Haynes Smith Village.

As a result, three men were injured - Damien Weekes, owner of the shop, Dion Hollomon and Vernal Chumney.

They were admitted to the Joseph N France General Hospital where they are receiving treatment to their wounds and are said to be in stable condition in the Surgical Ward.
