~~Adz:Left~~St. Croix, USVI – SWIFT action by V.I. police officers on St. Croix resulted in the capture of four men suspected in an armed robbery and assault that took place in Estate Welcome in the early hours of Saturday.

According to an official press statement issued by the Police Department, at about 4:40 a.m. central dispatchers received a report that a robbery had just taken place in Estate Welcome where a man was held at gunpoint and robbed by some armed men.

Officers responded to the area within minutes and were informed by victims that the armed men had robbed one individual, forced some individuals into their home which they then burgled and beat one person before they absconded in a vehicle.

Two patrol units that set out on a search noticed a vehicle racing away from the area and gave chase. When one of the passengers in the suspect vehicle exited on Company Street and tried to make his getaway on foot, one officer gave chase and apprehended the fleeing bandit.

The speeding vehicle which was occupied by two men was headed off in the Watergut area and the passengers subsequently arrested.

The duo, Selvin ‘Tommy Browne’ Serrano and Gerard ‘Sampa’ Adrian Jr., both 19, was charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary with a third man, Isaiah ‘Cant’ Murray, 20, being slapped with first-degree assault and first-degree robbery charges in connection to the crime.

A fourth individual is also expected to be arrested and charged in connection with the same crime after he apparently sustained some injury and was receiving treatment at the Luis Hospital.

It was said that police are looking at connecting the men to other crimes that have occurred on the island, however no mention was made as to whether any weapons were recovered during the apprehension of the armed robbery suspects.
