Montserrat presenting on Festival 50 at Caribbean Week in New York

    BRADES, Montserrat (June 04, 2012) – Montserrat will be putting on both a colourful and tasty display at this year’s Caribbean Week in New York. The annual conference and expo, hosted by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation began June 3 and runs until the 9th at the New York Marriott Marquis.

     

    Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Premier Beverley Mendes and Rosetta West of the Montserrat Tourist Board will make a presentation during the Caribbean Diaspora Forum “Re-Discovering Home: Defining Our Needs” on Tuesday, June 5  in the evening.
     
    As one of three Caribbean islands celebrating a 50th year anniversary, along with Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago the focus is on how members of the Diaspora can contribute to the development of their homeland.
     
    The presentation will give a synopsis of Montserrat as a tourism destination, the plans for the 50th Cultural Festival which begins December 14, 2012 and also areas for investment in Little Bay, housing and geothermal.
     
    At the Montserrat booth there will be traditional West Indian Rum Cake, ginger beer, guava cheese and other homemade treats. Jadine, the Soca Diva who is also part of Island Diva Mas band will be on hand wearing one of the costumes planned for 2012.
     
    There will also be masqueraders and a contingent of nationals living in the Tri-State area will come down to assist with promotion.
