    Police/Court Round Up

    ~~Adz:Left~~ARRESTS

     

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FIVE individuals, who were arrested and charged with various offences over the weekend, are scheduled to make appearances before the Federation’s Courts shortly.

     

    New Road Housing Project resident Myron Jeffers was arrested on Saturday and charged with a June 30, 2008 offence of “obtaining credit by fraud”. 

     

    Ottley’s Villager Robert Huggins was arrested and charged with a June 25, 2008 offence of “robbery”.  He too was officially charged on Saturday.

     

    “Building breaking and larceny” was the offence for which Jermaul Jules of St. Pauls Village was arrested and charged. The offence was allegedly committed on July 1, 2008.

     

    On Sunday, Shameen Vaksh of Brown Hill, Nevis was arrested and charged with one count each of “driving without insurance” and “driving without the relevant license”.

     

    Lennis St. Jules of Challengers Village was arrested and charged for the offence of “arson”.  The offence is said to have taken place on June 25, 2008.

     

    CONVICTIONS

     

    A man from Ottleys Village was sentenced to serve time behind bars after he was convicted of larceny of an electronic item.

     

    Jermaine Underwood appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court on Friday last, having been charged with stealing a cellular phone from Jennifer Norford of Thibou Avenue.  Underwood was convicted and sentenced to serve 18 months imprisonment at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    The offence was committed on June 21, 2008.

     

    An $850 fine was imposed on Timothy Hercules of Stoney Grove, Nevis after he was convicted of “driving without due care and attention”. He has two months to pay the fine or face the possibility of serving one month at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    Mount Idle, Sandy Point resident Claudis Rogers was convicted of a wounding offence and ordered to pay a $500 fine within three months. If Rogers fails to do so, he would be required to serve a three-month stint at Her Majesty’s Prison.
