BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A First Form student of the Verchild’s High School is said to have attempted to commit suicide earlier today (June 6).

News of the incident began circulating sometime during the early afternoon and this media house understands that the incident took place shortly before the recess period.

Information surrounding the incident remains sketchy. However, this publication understands that the child went in the school’s bathroom and made an attempt to hang or choke herself by securing a belt snugly around her neck and tugging at the loosed end.

It is reported that she may have been discovered by other students, who immediately raised an alarm, and she was taken from the bathroom to another area of the school.

Further reports suggest that the child was in a state of hysteria and reportedly spoke of wanting to die by killing herself. Attempts were made and success was achieved in calming her.

SKNVibes contacted the Principal of the Verchild’s High School – Mary Clarke – who declined to comment whether to confirm or deny that the incident did take place.
