Press Release (BVI)

ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, June 7th, 2012   -   Employees and visitors to the western wing of the Central Administration Building will soon enjoy better air quality as the Ministry of Communications and Works remains committed to improving the air quality of the building.

The Air Quality Improvement Project being carried out by Clean Air Solutions commenced on June 1 and is expected to be completed by July 2.

Project Manager, Ms. Shanika Fraser explained that this project is a continuation of a project that began in 2010 where 9 air handlers on the eastern wing of the Central Administration Building was retrofitted with ultra violet light which kills unwanted allergens.

The goal of this project according to the Project Manager is to relieve the occupants and visitors of the Administration Building of un-wanted allergens and other agents that may cause poor air quality. She further explained that the Air Quality Improvement Project will help to increase energy efficiency. Damaged materials will be replaced with closed cell material which are resistant to unwanted allergens and areas that are not damaged will be chemically cleaned.

Employees and visitors will not experience any disruptions due to the commencement of the project, as work will be carried out after business hours. The Ministry of Communications and Works remains committed to ensure the continued development and proper maintenance of the Central Administration Building in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) standards.
