S.K.T.U develops "The Passion To Speak"

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, june 8th, 2012   --   The St. Kitts Teachers' Union (SKTU) has launched a series of training workshops this past week geared towards the holistic development of its executive members, school stewards and ultimately the general body of the union.  The series of training jump started on Saturday June 2nd with a one day  public speaking session dubbed  "The Passion to Speak".

     

    Dynamic facilitator, Certified Super Service Trainer and Professional Development Trainer P. Cyndie Demming exposed the group to an abundance of information, good public speaking practices and interview skills  and presented several opportunities for the thirty participants to make presentations based on current issues such as The Sugar Industry Diversification Fund, Sustainable Energy, Youth Development, Educational Advancement et tal.  

     


    Public Relations Officer of the SKTU Yvette Herbert, stated that "the union's executive is on a mission to adequately equip its executive members and stewards with the knowledge and applicable skills to offer efficient representation to its general body, to effectively lobby for positive change in the educational sector and bargain for the further development of educational policies that will empower our teachers and provide a more conducive teaching-learning environment.  We look forward to the continued journey of enlightenment and discovery of knowledge for our members."  

    The SKTU wishes to commend all the educators who graduated from the recently held intermediate level of public speaking training session and promises to continue to provide similar opportunities for professional growth and development of our human resources in education.
     
    Future training sessions will include Professional Protocol, Collective Bargaining and Human Rights and Trade Unionism.
