BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 23rd 2008 (CUOPM) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Hon Sam Condor has received full support of the Cabinet to improve security at the island’s 23 primary schools, five high schools and lone tertiary-level college on St. Kitts.

At this week’s Cabinet meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed the concern of the ministry with regard to the need for increased night-time and weekend security at public schools.

The Minister indicated that computers and other materials worth many thousands of dollars have been stolen from public schools and that government needed to beef up security at these institutions to avoid the high replacement costs resulting from theft.

The Cabinet gave full support to have school security improved and the Ministry of Education should soon implement a new plan.
